Installing TomTom HOME





To install TomTom HOME, first go to tomtom.com/home to download the
installer.

be asked to confirm the installation with your administrator credentials to
continue.





You need to accept the end-user license agreement to install TomTom HOME.





To read the agreement,
click the link in the installer.





Click Next to install to
the default folder, and click Install to start the process.





Now the installation is finished, and you can choose if you want to start the program immediately.

TomTom MapShare updates offer a way to have more recent changes applied to the map on your navigation device between the larger quarterly map updates.





By downloading these updates, you benefit from changes other TomTom users have reported, which include the more dynamic and frequent changes such as:





Changed speed limits





New or changed street names.





Blocked roads.





New traffic directions and Altered turn restrictions.





When you accept map
corrections on your device you join the TomTom MapShare community.





Changes reported by you
are uploaded every time you connect your device to MyDrive Connect or TomTom
HOME.





At the same time, changes
to the map reported by other TomTom users are sent to your device after they
have been verified.





On devices produced
before 2013, you can pick what level of verification you want.





You can choose to accept changes reported by only a few users, many users or just get changes that have been verified by TomTom.





To change your map
correction preferences, open the main menu and either select Map Corrections
then Correction Preferences or select Settings.

Map Correction Settings, depending on your device.





You can download
MapShare corrections by updating your navigation device with MyDrive Connect or
TomTom HOME.





On some devices, you can report your own map changes directly on the device.





On newer devices, you can select a point on the map, tap the pop-up menu button and select Report Map Change to see a different kind of report you can create.





To report a map change
on older devices, go through menu or settings.





If this is not possible
on your device, you can use the MapShare Reporter tool online.

Open the main menu on your
navigation device.





GO to Settings, then Bluetooth® and
select Add Phone.

On your phone, install the TomTom
MyDrive app by downloading it from the app store or click the link in the
description of this video.





Open the MyDrive app on your phone
and go through the introduction.





Log in with your TomTom account, or
create a new one if you don’t have it already.





On the Connect your TomTom Device
screen, select OK, Show Me How.





When the app asks if MyDrive can
send you notifications, tap allow.





Tap Next.





Then open the Settings on your phone
and go to Bluetooth®.





Make sure that your Bluetooth® is on
and select the navigation device from the list to pair it.





Accept the Bluetooth® pairing
request on your phone, then on your navigation device.





Once connected, your phone shows notification from MyDrive.





Tap the notification to return to
the MyDrive app.





Finally, accept the second pairing
request.





Your devices are now connected and You can select which features you’d like to use in the Bluetooth® settings on your navigation device.

your navigation device with MyDrive Connect





To update your
navigation device, you need to have MyDrive Connect installed.

Click the link in the
description, or go to tomtom.com/mydrive to download the program.





First, connect your
navigation device directly to your computer with the USB cable and turn it on.





If MyDrive Connect
doesn’t launch automatically, start the program and log in.





If it’s the first time
you’re updating your device, you may be asked to link the device to your
account.





Once you’re set-up, click View Updates to see the available updates.





Any software updates for
your device will be mandatory, but you can deselect other items if you want the
update to go faster.





After installing a
software update your device will need to reboot.





Make sure to keep the
device connected until the map screen has loaded in completely on your device.





Changing a Map Zone with TomTom HOME





Connect your navigation
device directly to your computer with the USB cable and turn it on.





If it asks if you want
to connect to your computer, select Yes.

Start TomTom HOME and
click Manage my device.





Select the Items on the device tab.





Click Maps to expand the
section, and click Change map zone…





Select the map zone you
want from the available options and continue.





The mapped zone will be downloaded if necessary, and the installation will start.





When the installation is
completed, click Done and then Eject your device to remove it safely.





You can only have one
map zone installed at a time, but you can switch between them whenever you need
to using TomTom HOME.





Updating your TomTom





Can you update an old TomTom?





You can update your
TomTom watch by connecting it to a computer with the USB dock.

To update and sync with
a computer you need to have TomTom Sports Connect installed and running





If there is an update
available TomTom Sports Connect will ask you if you would like to install it





It’s possible to
postpone the update up to three times.





When your watch is being
updated.





TomTom Sports Connect
first downloads and transfers the update files to your watch.





Then the update is
installed on your watch.





The progress of the installation
will be shown on your watch's display.





So, make sure you don't
disconnect it from the computer until TomTom Sports Connect says Charging.





When your watch connects to TomTom Sports Connect your activities are synced to your TomTom Sports account automatically, you can also sync activities through the TomTom Sports app on your smartphone but note that it’s not possible to update your watch via the smartphone app. 





How to recover your
device





Your device has to be
charged for at least 2 hours to make sure it has enough battery power to go
into the recovery mode.





Connect the USB cable that came with your device to your computer but does not connect the USB cable to your device yet.





You should plug the USB
cable directly into a USB port on your computer and not into a USB hub or USB
port on a keyboard or monitor.





You cannot use the
windscreen mount to connect your device to the computer.





Switch on your
navigation device, while your device is switched on press and hold the power
button until the device shows white text.





This can take 10 seconds
or more.





When the white text is
displayed quickly press and release the power button 3 times in quick
succession





Getting the timing right
is one of the critical steps of this process.





The screen goes black and after a few seconds, the device reboots into recovery mode.





Quickly connect the USB
cable to your navigation device while the wheel is spinning.





Reinstalling the
software on your navigation device using TomTom HOME





As soon as your device
is connected to the computer.





My Drive Connect starts
restoring the software on your device.





You can check the
progress in My Drive Connect.





The recovery process can
take between 5 and 30 minutes depending on your internet connection.





Leave the device connected to the computer whilst your device restarts, once you see the map screen you can disconnect your device from the computer and use it as normal again.





Reinstalling the software on your navigation device using TomTom HOME





If your navigation device does not start, reboots continuously, or displays across after you switch it on, you need to reinstall the software on the device.

Start by resetting your
device.





To see instructions on
how to do a reset, click the link in the top right corner now.





When the reset is
complete, switch off your navigation device.





Connect your navigation
device directly to your computer with the USB cable and switch it on.





If it asks if you want
to connect to your computer, select Yes.





Start TomTom HOME and
click Manage my device.





Select the Items on the device tab.





Click Applications, tick the TomTom Application then click Remove items from the device.





Click OK to confirm, and
then click Done.





Now select the Remove items from the computer tab.





Click the plus sign for
Applications and select the TomTom Application if it is shown.





Then click Remove items from the computer and then click OK, then click Done.





Now, click Update my device on the main menu.





Select the TomTom
Application update that’s offered and click Update and install.





When the update is
finished click Done.





Your navigation device
will restart automatically.





When asked if you want
to connect to your computer, select No and disconnect it from your computer.





If your navigation
device does not restart automatically, click the eject button in the bottom
right of TomTom HOME and then disconnect it from your computer.





Reset your device again,
as we did earlier in the Article.





Once the reset is
complete, reconnect your device to your computer and click Update my device
again.





If another TomTom Application update is offered, Update and install again and repeat these steps until no further Application is offered as an update. Download Software
